"Helsinki from Above"

A photo exhibition that presents aerial photos of Helsinki, captured by Kristo Vedenoja from the year 2018 and forward.

The exhibited collection presents locations and buildings of the city of Helsinki, in photographs taken with a drone. Kristo Vedenoja gets his inspiration from the display of colors, history, and constant change of the city.

He started capturing the city from the ground and has documented Helsinki on his Instagram account Helsinki Facades since 2016. Since then, he has built a specialized skill set also in aerial photography. This experience has led him to his current-day expertise, and to spectacular works that invite the viewer to enjoy Helsinki in a new way.

You can expect to see local architecture such as famous buildings, residential blocks, and some places that you might not know. These locations gain new dimensions and become an entirely different motif when they’re portrayed from the air. You might notice features that surprise you, and perhaps some details will open your eyes to the diverse beauty that hides in the city. Maybe the next time you pass by a familiar place, you'll remember what the place looks like from above.

As you tour “Helsinki from Above”, Kristo challenges you to ask yourself: what part of the city am I looking at? Do I recognize this place? What have I not noticed about this area before?

Perhaps you will find new favorite places from Helsinki, or learn to love your old favorites even more.

The works of Kristo will show you familiar places seen

from a less familiar angle - a bird's eye view.
